from Philly earlier this week
One of my favorite songs of all time... hasn't been played in concert since The River tour 28 years ago... I get chills watching it...
But just across the county line, a stranger passing through put up a sign
That counts the men fallen away to the price you pay,
and girl before the end of the day,
I'm gonna tear it down and throw it away
and if that wasn't enough... the night before he played this gem, also not played for 28 years...
I remember hearing this the first time I saw him back in October of 80... jeez, nearly 29 years THIS WEEK... he introduced it this way:
"Now this is a story of unrequited love..." The crowd sighed a long "ahhhhh." To which Bruce responded, "Aw, man, you don't even know what that means..."
I did, as all high schoolers do... and it was freaking awesome...

classic kid moment of the day
Jack comes down to go to school wearing shorts.
Lisa reminds him that it's going to be cool today.
"You didn't tell me," he says.
"Yes, I did... before your shower" is Lisa's reply.
pause
"Yeah, but you didn't YELL IT AT ME."
uh, ok...
As he's heading off in a huff, I call him back... "What?" he asks exasperated.
"I LOVE YOU," I yell.
He is not amused.

Looks like it could be a "rebuilding" (read: loooooong) basketball season, too... but I've got faith in Howland... we'll be OK...

ma
Ma would have turned 77 today.
Probably not, of course. Given her cancer three years ago, there's no way she would be alive today... not even under the best of circumstances.
Is that why I'm not as sad as I've been in the past? Or will it hit me later, when we go to the harbor?
[of course, I've been in what I was assuming a sinus-induced funk for the last four days... could it be something else? I don't think so...]

this could be cool
yeah, I know it's got Zac Efron... but it's about Orson Welles' 1937 production of Caesar...

thanks to my buddy Kev for the heads-up:

| Bruce Springsteen performs his new song Wrecking Ball at Giants Stadium |
And it that wasn't enough... he looks to do the Born to Run, Darkness, and Born in the USA albums in sequence over the course of the next few nights... damn.... and I'm stuck here on the west coast...
ok, so I'm a Gleek
I admit it... I'm hooked (even though last night's wasn't great)...
Glee is my new favorite show:
I'd add last night's "Somebody to Love"... but Hulu's page for last night's episode isn't responding... am NOT the only one geeking on Glee?

UPDATE: finally got through...
